About Tamr
Get to know who we are, what drives us, and why organizations choose Tamr for their data mastering needs.
At Tamr, we believe that effective decision-making and business operations require high-quality, trustworthy data.
Our mission is to disrupt the market with the world’s first and only AI-native MDM solution that connects and unifies data across sources and continuously produces the clean, accurate, and enriched data companies need to power their business.
And our vision is a world where everyone has the best data, everywhere, all the time.
Tamr is AI-native because AI has been built into the core of the platform from the start, not bolted on like traditional, legacy MDM solution providers have done. Unlike traditional MDM solutions that rely on static rules and manual processes, Tamr leverages AI for core functions like entity resolution, schema mapping, real-time search, and data enrichment. This AI-centric approach delivers faster, more scalable, and more accurate data mastering to enable better business outcomes with less effort.
Yes. Tamr is a cloud-native, SaaS platform that is compatible with all major cloud providers, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. It can also integrate with on-premises systems as needed, supporting hybrid data environments and flexible deployment strategies.
Founded in 2013, Tamr is based on Turing Award winner Mike Stonebraker’s research at MIT’s Computer Science and AI Lab. Driven by a shared vision, Dr. Stonebraker, Andy Palmer, Daniel Bruckner, and Alex Pagan embarked on a mission to empower companies to unify and master the vast and ever-evolving landscape of highly-diverse data.
Since Tamr's founding, the company has raised roughly $100M from top-tier institutional investors such as Google Ventures and NEA, and strategic investors such as Alteryx and Samsung Ventures.
Tamr serves businesses and organizations across industries like financial services, insurance, technology, manufacturing, life sciences, healthcare, retail, and higher education. Typical users include data and analytics teams and business operations professionals who need trusted, high-quality data to power strategic initiatives like customer 360, supplier management, and AI programs. What We Do
Learn how Tamr helps businesses turn messy, siloed data into clean, connected, and actionable golden records.
Tamr is an AI-native master data management (MDM) platform that helps organizations unify and curate data from across disparate systems and sources using AI. Tamr specializes in resolving duplicate, inconsistent, or incomplete records to create clean, accurate, enriched, and trustworthy datasets, making data ready for analytics, AI, and operational use.
Tamr focuses on solving data quality problems like duplicate records, fragmented customer or supplier views, inconsistent naming conventions, and disconnected datasets across systems. It enables entity resolution, data enrichment, and the creation of golden records at scale—all with continuous improvement via human-in-the-loop feedback. Tamr overview
Tamr uses AI and machine learning to identify and resolve duplicate and inconsistent records across sources, creating a single, trusted "golden record." Additionally, Tamr standardizes and validates data formats, fills in missing values through its enrichment capabilities, and corrects inconsistencies, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and complete.
Tamr provides the only AI-native master data management (MDM) solution that delivers high-quality, trusted data in days or weeks (rather than months or years), with greater accuracy and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Unlike traditional MDM systems that rely heavily on rules and rigid data models, Tamr uses a machine learning-first approach. As a result, when compared to alternative solutions, Tamr scales more easily, is more efficient, requires minimal manual effort, adapts better to new data sources, and is designed to be agile in modern cloud and hybrid environments. Yes, this is a core capability. Tamr's domain-oriented data products are purposefully built to connect data across sources, clean and improve its quality, enrich it, and connect it back to analytical and operational systems.
Tamr specializes in mastering company data (e.g., customers, prospects, suppliers, healthcare organizations, distributors, etc.) and people data (e.g., consumers, contacts, healthcare providers, students, employees, etc.).
Tamr handles datasets of any size, including companies mastering just 50,000 records and companies mastering hundreds of millions to billions of records.
Tamr's unique approach to matching uses patented machine learning models developed by our data scientists and machine learning engineers. We have tested and trained our AI models for performance and accuracy using hundreds of diverse data sources. We only release models that have been proven to deliver a very high accuracy level in testing (often 95%+).
Explainability was a key criteria for us when developing our machine learning algorithms. The models themselves are very human-readable, and Tamr also provides uniformity metrics to identify the records for curator review (the ones with the least similarity). These metrics can also be used to understand why Tamr makes match decisions. Finally, Tamr enables users to provide override rules to ensure that specific business logic is always applied. For example, if you have a trusted identifier within an existing data source, Tamr can use that identifier as a rule to always match those records.
For over a decade, Tamr has invested significantly in refining our algorithms to perform optimally and at scale, and to accurately match records with diverse characteristics. And this is just a small part of the value Tamr provides. We also deliver the infrastructure to manage the end-to-end process, the data quality and enrichment services to perform data testing and feature extraction, and the curation interface to manually fix edge cases. As a result, you can manage your data as a product—and not just complete a one-time project that's difficult to scale or sustain.
First, Tamr provides data quality services out-of-the-box to clean raw source data and extract key attributes, using external reference data where possible, so that matching models are fed with the best information possible. Next, for company data, the solution matches raw source data to a corpus of 500M+ company records. This approach enables us to incorporate aspects like subsidiary/parent relationships into the matching process, allowing us to connect records that may appear very different on the surface (such as Instagram vs. Meta). Then, Tamr applies clustering models to match the records. Finally, we’ve spent 10+ years developing an AI-based platform that uses all of the attributes available within records to make match decisions. We can also compare those records using a broad range of similarity measures, including factoring in the overall uniqueness of a value, to deliver the best results for unique data types. This contrasts with other solutions, which typically have a single, rigid approach or require people to hand-code the matching logic.
No, not at all. Business users and data analysts can easily use Tamr with our intuitive, user-friendly UI. No coding or machine learning background is needed.
